The smokey eye is sexy and dramatic and alluring. There are many, many tutorials out there that provide step by step instructions on achieving the perfect smokey eye look. In an effort to save you time and any eye makeup disasters, here is a simple step by step tutorial to achieving the perfect smokey eye.

1. Prep your lid area. Using a primer designed for the eyelid is a great way to make your eye makeup last longer and look fresh all day long. Apply primer all over lid area and let dry.

2. Line your eyes with eyeliner. Any color will do. If you want an especially dark and dramatic look use a black eyeliner. Or change it up and use a bright jewel toned liner such as amethyst purple or green. Apply the liner to the top lash line.

3. Apply eyeliner pencil to the bottom lash line and smudge using your finger or a sponge. You can also achieve this by using an eyeshadow and smudging that after applying.

4. Use a light shimmery eyeshadow and sweep it over your entire lid.

5. Now, using a darker color eyeshadow and an eyeshadow brush, apply the shadow beginning at the outer corner of your eye and blend inwards. You do not want the darker shadow to go any higher than the crease of your eye. Also apply just above the lashes and smudge upwards. The key here is to blend your shadows together.

6. Step back from the mirror and admire your gorgeous smokey eyes!

No matter what the hot new shades emerge in the future, you will be ready to choose the ones that work right for you.

To begin color-matching, you first need to take into consideration your natural contrast. If you have dark hair and light skin and dark or medium eyes, like Jackie Onassis, you are a high contrast person. If this is you, you can pull off more dramatic make-up. If you have medium-brown hair, medium-light skin and medium-dark eyes, like Jennifer Anniston or Vanessa Williams, you are a medium-contrast person and should stick to a style that is less dramatic. Finally, if your skin and eyes are softly blended, a look such as blonde hair, light blue eyes and light skin, you are a low contrast person. Examples of this would be Melanie Griffith or Meryl Streep. You'd look best in a blended makeup that does not stand out dramatically. As far as makeup goes, color-matching is very important. If you are a low contrast person wearing make-up for a high contrast style, people will only notice your makeup.

Take into consideration the texture of your skin when color-matching. Do you have an even complexion or do you have freckles and beauty marks? Is your skin smooth or does it have indentations? All these add elements of interest to you face and will affect the way the make-up will look on you. If your face is smoother in texture, you can get away with darker colors to add depth. If you have skin with more wrinkles or scars, a darker color may make your texture look even more pronounced by adding extra shadow. Color-matching not only involves your skin coloring, but also its natural lines and indentations.

Another important factor is the natural patterns you find in your skin and hair. Again, whether you have freckles or an even complexion factors into your color-matching as well as your hair texture when choosing makeup. Remember, you do not want to hide things like beauty marks, but to use your make-up to make them points of interest. As for your hair, whether it is curly, wavy or straight will influence your choices as well. The more patterns in your hair, the "busier" the area around your face will be. If you have curls that fall into your face, your natural beauty may get hidden wearing elaborate makeup without the proper hair style. 1. Natural Eyes

This summer, well... every summer, it's all about going natural. You don't need to have really dark eye shadows in order for you to look chic. The neutral look complements your glowing face during summer. Besides, the weather can get really hot that putting make-up full on can be a lot of work. All that you really need to do is to just have perfectly shaped brows and apply two coats of mascara (it is recommended to use either a black brown or brown mascara to make it more natural) on your lashes and your all set.

2. Go for Gold

Applying gold shimmer on your lids can definitely make your eyes pop. A great tip is to dab a little of it on the inner part of your eye, which is the tear duct area.

3. Opt For Tinted Moisturizers

Dab some of this product on areas where the sun usually hits you (on your forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks). Don't put too much product on. the key is to blend until you are satisfied.

5. Put Some Color on Your Cheeks

Applying blush on your cheeks instantly puts color on your face. Peach-toned, or corally toned blushes are great for summer.

6. Go Nude on the Lips

Nude-ish colors are best worn when you are hitting the beach. To keep 'em cool, place them inside the cooler or let them stay near the air conditioner to keep it from melting.

7. Protect Your Face With a Moisturizer.

Use moisturizers with SPF 15 or higher. It will definitely protect your face from harmful UV rays.

8. Go for Waterproof Mascara

Sweating is inevitable during the warmer seasons, so there is a great possibility for your makeup to melt off. Try using waterproof mascara in order to prevent yourself from having ugly raccoon eyes.

9. Choose Eyeliners That Scream Summer
