The smokey eye is sexy and dramatic and alluring. There are many, many tutorials out there that provide step by step instructions on achieving the perfect smokey eye look. In an effort to save you time and any eye makeup disasters, here is a simple step by step tutorial to achieving the perfect smokey eye.

1. Prep your lid area. Using a primer designed for the eyelid is a great way to make your eye makeup last longer and look fresh all day long. Apply primer all over lid area and let dry.

2. Line your eyes with eyeliner. Any color will do. If you want an especially dark and dramatic look use a black eyeliner. Or change it up and use a bright jewel toned liner such as amethyst purple or green. Apply the liner to the top lash line.

3. Apply eyeliner pencil to the bottom lash line and smudge using your finger or a sponge. You can also achieve this by using an eyeshadow and smudging that after applying.

4. Use a light shimmery eyeshadow and sweep it over your entire lid.

5. Now, using a darker color eyeshadow and an eyeshadow brush, apply the shadow beginning at the outer corner of your eye and blend inwards. You do not want the darker shadow to go any higher than the crease of your eye. Also apply just above the lashes and smudge upwards. The key here is to blend your shadows together.

Every expertly-trained clerk seems to give conflicting tips that can leave you feeling confused and disillusioned. What I am going to teach you is color-matching for your face. No matter what the hot new shades emerge in the future, you will be ready to choose the ones that work right for you.

To begin color-matching, you first need to take into consideration your natural contrast. If you have dark hair and light skin and dark or medium eyes, like Jackie Onassis, you are a high contrast person. If this is you, you can pull off more dramatic make-up. If you have medium-brown hair, medium-light skin and medium-dark eyes, like Jennifer Anniston or Vanessa Williams, you are a medium-contrast person and should stick to a style that is less dramatic. Finally, if your skin and eyes are softly blended, a look such as blonde hair, light blue eyes and light skin, you are a low contrast person. Color-matching not only involves your skin coloring, but also its natural lines and indentations.

Another important factor is the natural patterns you find in your skin and hair. Again, whether you have freckles or an even complexion factors into your color-matching as well as your hair texture when choosing makeup. Remember, you do not want to hide things like beauty marks, but to use your make-up to make them points of interest. As for your hair, whether it is curly, wavy or straight will influence your choices as well. The more patterns in your hair, the "busier" the area around your face will be. If you have curls that fall into your face, your natural beauty may get hidden wearing elaborate makeup without the proper hair style. If your hair is straight and your hair style is not too complex, you may be able to pull off a more dramatic make-up style.

There are some great new looks in the fall and holiday season. If you are going to go out, you're probably looking for a new or different look. I have compiled some of my favorite styles for this season, to select your best fit your situation and needs.

Focus on the lips

This look is all in your mouth. Whether you use a bright color lip jewelry or a chill mat, remember to use a gemstone color. They are hot this season. Amethyst, ruby, gold,Pomegranate, plum, etc., are all great colors. Try to use a color a few shades darker than your normal lip color.

Do not do much other than add mascara to your top lashes only. This look is complemented by a lot of mascara. You can also use a neutral color to the crease of the eyelid. (The fold of the eyelid is a popular style.)

Line It Up

Love eyeliner? Looking for something new and exotic? This aims to make the holiday for you. This is eyeliner.

Witha dark eyeliner pencil, lightly trace where you want the coating on both the upper and lower lid. Then take black eyeshadow and mix with a little hydrosol, water, Visine, etc. With thin eyeliner brush, dip in your mixture creamy eye shadow over the eyeliner pencil and trace elements. Keep your line very thin. They find it easier to follow, over the line, when to do it freehand.

Now for the fun part. You will see a space of encounter, of which the upper and lower lashes. Place the brush eyelinerthere and pull it out. Make a curve as you move away. You receive a "cat eye" look and your line will be too thick to thin. You can get perfect placement every time.
